Two weeks after a total hip replacement with Dr. Nitin Goyal, the host of SiriusXM's Black Eagle talk show, Joe Madison, was back at work. Shortly thereafter, he had Dr. Goyal on-air to discuss joint replacement surgery, recovery, future trends, and how to make the decision for surgery.

Madison was up and walking with a physical therapist on the day of surgery and actually went home the same day, this is "not your grandfather's hip replacement," he said.

As for the future of joint replacements, Dr. Goyal says, "we're seeing more of it because people are trying to continue to live active lifestyles as they get older. No longer are patients willing to 'just deal with it'. I operate on lots of younger, athletic patients that want to get back to the activity that they've been doing all of their lives. After successful joint replacement surgery they can do just that!"

Dr. Goyal has revolutionized total joint replacement in the Washington, D.C. area with outpatient minimally invasive surgery. He performed the first outpatient hip replacement within the INOVA Health System and his patients continue to rave about the results!

After surgery, Arlington commissioner of revenue has hip new outlook on life

We can quibble over which of Arlington’s five constitutional officers is the hippest, but there’s no question which one has the most recent hips.

That would be Commissioner of Revenue Ingrid Morroy, who in August had one hip replaced and in October is slated to have the second one done.

It’s a growing trend, said Dr. Nitin Goyal of Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic, who performed the surgery at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. His patients now range the gamut in age.

“We’re seeing a younger population,” Goyal said. “Patients do not need to live in pain – we can fix the problem.”
